hello there. this is an overdue ramble. i guess plenty of singaporeans had seen this commercial that was aired last week to promote channel 5's 'emmy award winning drama' csi.

what do you see while reading that? kind of normal, right? even knowledgeable to a certain aspect in teaching the english language. however, while looking deeper, i can't fathom how hypocritical it is on channel 5's behalf. looking at a certain point of view, it seems like they are promoting the notion of glorifying killing. "but we are just notifying the audience what murder is and should be condoned altogether" they may argue.

but then mr mediacorp, it rarely happens in everyday life that different scenes of someone stabbing another in different methods according to the different word description, with blood spewing out and the trailer voice rambling about all those synonyms word by word for the whole 1 minute and screening it in the fucking prime hour, right? i can just see what the uproar be like if they run a trailer and list down all the synonyms of being homosexual or anything that relates to sex with the voice spewing all its synonyms. lest not forget about the brou ha ha that came about with the renaming of that austin powers movie, to cite an example.

i can just see in the future a parent scolds a child for being engaged in sexual activities but blinks only an eye cos he used a different term to abolish, asphyxiate, assassinate, behead, blot out, bump off, butcher, chill, cool, decapitate, defeat, destroy, dispatch, do in, drub, dust off, electrocute, eliminate, eradicate, execute, exterminate, extinguish, finish, get fog, guillotine, hang, hit, ice, knife, knock off, liquidate, lynch, mangle, mar, massacre, misuse, off, put away, rub out, ruin, shoot, slaughter, slay, smother, snuff, spoil, strangle, take out, thrash or waste someone else.

pardon for my english, but i just simply do not understand this singapore media, or maybe any for the rest of the world who deems itself conservative and dare not to go to new terrains, but then displaying itself with images of gore and murder as a norm. is killing much better than being, erm, something else? no they may reply. but thats a norm for these execs. they WILL always have diplomatic answers to say and will repeat doing it again. it is always them against us when it's fucks sake it is us that they depend on for viewers.

so what should i do about it then rather bitch about it here?
