i'm 2 days late to realise this.

before the mass idiotism of mtv, the only avenue for new music most kids my age and the fathers before us had was his show. and before broadband was available, radio tunesets were always dialed to the world service at 2AM.

i love his show too much. how great this man was to identify talent and open ideas to something new. and how wonderful it was to hear your homegrown band to belt spaceman over malaysia by him before local radio did anything about it.

radio would never be the same again.
